Living on the Edge

I think I'm turning over a new leaf. I just turned 36 years old on Monday (oy!) and can you believe that this is the first (faux) leather jacket I have ever owned? I have so many sweet and girly looks...but nothing with much edge. Things are gonna change, because I'm loving this look! Don't you?

I picked up this pleather jacket at H&M the other day and I adore it. I have been looking high and low for a jacket like this without the belt (ugh I hate those). This specific jacket is so insanely soft, a great weight, and I love the cut and detailing! I'm kicking myself as they have a similar style on their website that is on sale. Looks like the cut might be slightly different and the lining isn't the same. But it's $20 cheaper than I paid...argh!

This dress is new too. I stopped by Zara earlier this week and they were having their mid season sale. Have you guys checked it out? So many items were 50% off! I got this dress for only $12 and change. YES!!!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. As you can see, here in NYC the snow and ice are still slowly melting. At least it is going to be in the 60's today...so get out there and enjoy the day in between all the rain. Later on I'm meeting up with a friend that is taking me out for a belated birthday coffee and pie. Mmmmm...pie.

Fall Is Just Around The Corner

Before you know it autumn will be here, and I couldn't be happier! I welcome the (slightly) cooler weather, hot cider, the smell of dried leaves, pumpkin pies, and most of all fall fashion.

Isn't this dress amazing? I'm loving the midi length, the bow detailing, and the adorable floral & bird print. This dress screams autumn to me...but it's light enough (so light that I had to wear a slip underneath) that I can start wearing it now and slowly transition it into the fall. Adding a cute black jacket over top, or even layering it over a turtleneck or black sheer top will keep you warm while looking extra cool.

What I love most about this look is that I got both the dress and shoes on sale at Lord & Taylor (along with numerous other items you'll see popping up on the blog soon!). Be sure to stop by the store or their website this weekend as they are having amazing discounts. And no, this is not a sponsored post...I'm just obsessed with the fantastic deals I always find there when I stop by to shop on my lunch break. Yes, it is dangerous having a L&T a block away from my office!

Crimping My Style

As many of you know, Paris Fashion Week is in full swing. As sad as I am that I'm not there, there is one thing from the shows made me quite happy. At the Schiaparelli Spring 2016 Couture show the models were rocking some serious crimped hair(!!!). Now I don't know about you, but I love crimped hair in moderation. I don't know that I'd be crimping my entire head anytime soon...but a streak here or there is so much fun. Today I thought I'd bust out my vintage crimper (it's the original crimper I used in elementary school) to add a little bit of Paris Fashion Week to my look. #crimpedhairdontcare

dress: ASOS | tights: H&M | boots: Nine West (currently on sale) | bracelet: gift

Speaking of Paris Fashion Week, are there any current styles and beauty trends that you are lusting from their runways? The rolled hair/eyeliner at Chanel, the amazing gowns at Valentino (especially this green one), the cubist polo shirts at Viktor & Rolf...let's discuss.

I'm curious, have any of you held on to a trend in hopes that it comes back in style? I think I basically want to know that am I not the only person that has still held on to their original crimper from the 80's?

Puffy Parka

I hope you all in the northeast are staying warm and surviving this insane blizzard we are having. I seriously didn't know if we'd get the amounts they were calling for. But when they got on the news and started increasing the total amounts for the area I realized this storm meant business. The NYC area was calling for 20-30 inches and tons of blowing and drifting snow. I'm not really sure how much is currently out there...but it is a lot. And the snow drifts are nothing to laugh about. I saw people on my block in waist deep snow. All I can say is that the city better get this mess cleaned up by the time we go to work on Monday morning...or I don't know how I'll get there. Ugh!!!

I'm in the need of a new winter coat, and the blizzard outside my window has me doing some serious online browsing. Here are some of my current favorite puffy parkas.

Faux Fur Trim Belted Down & Feather Fill Parka by MICHAEL Michael Kors available at Nordstrom- currently on sale for $159.90

Outer Warmth Down Jacket available at Athleta- currently on sale for $178.99

Faux Fur Trim Chevron Quilted Down Coat by Kenneth Cole available at Macy's- currently on sale for $94.99

Nordic Parka available at J.Crew- $450 + 30% off when you use the code GETSHOPPING

Faux Fur Hooded Parka by Eliza J available at Lord & Taylor- currently on sale for $133

How are you spending your snowy blizzard weekend? How much snow did you get?

*UPDATE- I just bought the Eliza J parka (above). Almost $240 off the original price...how could I not?

Spots on Dots

We finally put our Christmas tree up. Even thought it is very skinny, it is full of silly ornaments and multi-colored lights. Fun and quirky just like my husband and myself. One of the reasons I wanted to make sure it was up soon is because I had nowhere to go with the gifts I bought. Can you believe that I have about 90% of my shopping done already? At the beginning of December I'm never this far ahead of the game. Go me!!!

sweater: H&M / skirt: H&M / tights: Joe Fresh / over the knee boots: Nine West

These over the knee boots are probably my new favorite item in my wardrobe. I got them way on sale at Lord and Taylor last month. But the good news is that they are still on sale (I think even more than when I bought them)! Be sure to check it out. They are very comfortable, go with just about everything, and are so on trend for the season.

I was trying to go for a "lampshading" look here. You know, tall boots, an oversized top, and a short skirt or shorts. Not sure what I really think of the trend or if I even achieved the look or not...but thought it was worth a shot!

Oh yeah...lastly, I got bangs (again!). I was bored with my hair about two weeks ago and told my stylist to switch up my look with some bangs. I'm always getting bored and making very subtle changes. For some reason they look way more blunt in these photos than they actually are. Weird. What do you all think?
