Put A Lid On It

Hats are my go to accessory when the weather starts to get cooler. Nothing like being fashion forward while masking your bad hair day and keeping your head warm. I can't get enough of them! I recently bought this adorable Daisy Cloche from Brooklyn Industries and made a point to wear it this past weekend. The cold and wind were awful, but the hat kept me looking perfectly put together.

Here are some more styles I have my eye on...

Stitch Banded Hat available at Free People- $58

Zaffre Fedora available at Anthropologie- $48

Bailey® for J.Crew Felt Hat available at J.Crew- $98

Grosgrain Panama Hat available at Urban Outfitters- $39

My oh my...it's been too long! So much has been going on lately. I feel like I've been going in circles. I'm still getting over being sick (this cough is just lingering), and we have been apartment hunting in our free time. Well, it seems like today I can take a deep breath and relax because we got approved for the apartment we wanted in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Our lease starts in December, and I'm so excited! The best part is that we will finally have a view. All the years I have lived in Manhattan we have always just had a "true New York City View"...i.e. a brick wall. In the new apartment we have a view of the Williamsburg Bridge, lower Manhattan, and an iconic Brooklyn water tower. *sigh* I can't wait to share photos with you all.

NYC Easter Bonnet Parade

As I mentioned in my last post, this year I had the opportunity to check out the Easter Bonnet Parade in NYC. This was such a fun gathering of some seriously creative and fashionable people. I saw everything from top hats to hats made out of Easter baskets and peeps!

I have to say, I think the peep hat that this little boy had on above was my favorite. What you can't see in this photo is that the stuffed chick on the top jiggled back and forth. And in case you didn't realize, I love peeps!!! I mean...who doesn't???

I just love that everyone in attendance had such a great sense of humor about it all. Laughter and smiles filled the streets. If you get a chance to go to this gathering in the future you should definitely check it out. Have any of you ever gone to it before?

This bonnet showcase got me thinking...what would I make my ideal bonnet out of? The next time I attend this "parade" I will definitely be rocking a crazy hat. What would you make your Easter bonnet out of???

Kentucky Derby Party 2012

Last week while I was home on my lunch break I decided to call in to the radio station to answer a trivia question to win tickets to a Kentucky Derby Party at the National Watch & Clock Museum in Columbia, Pennsylvania. I didn't really know the answer...so I guessed. And I was right! Four tickets to a fun derby party were mine! This afternoon my husband and I got all dressed up and joined our friends Olivia and Jason for some derby fun!

Olivia and myself rocking our hats!

Wow...my husband looks so dapper.

Minty cupcakes.

Jason and Chris in our hats...they aren't happy.

Jason and Chris realizing how awesome they look...now happy.

What I'm wearing:
vintage fascinator- gift from my parents when they were in Ireland
jacket- H&M
dress- Calvin Klein
wedge sandals- Bakers
necklace- Urban Outfitters

Olivia is the ultimate southern belle.

Overall it was a fun afternoon. Yummy snacks, fun hats, good company...what more can you ask for? Snapshot Fashion wants to know if you celebrated the derby...or did you opt for Cinco de Mayo? Anyone do both???
