Crimping My Style

As many of you know, Paris Fashion Week is in full swing. As sad as I am that I'm not there, there is one thing from the shows made me quite happy. At the Schiaparelli Spring 2016 Couture show the models were rocking some serious crimped hair(!!!). Now I don't know about you, but I love crimped hair in moderation. I don't know that I'd be crimping my entire head anytime soon...but a streak here or there is so much fun. Today I thought I'd bust out my vintage crimper (it's the original crimper I used in elementary school) to add a little bit of Paris Fashion Week to my look. #crimpedhairdontcare

Speaking of Paris Fashion Week, are there any current styles and beauty trends that you are lusting from their runways? The rolled hair/eyeliner at Chanel, the amazing gowns at Valentino (especially this green one), the cubist polo shirts at Viktor & Rolf...let's discuss.

I'm curious, have any of you held on to a trend in hopes that it comes back in style? I think I basically want to know that am I not the only person that has still held on to their original crimper from the 80's?

Spots on Dots

We finally put our Christmas tree up. Even thought it is very skinny, it is full of silly ornaments and multi-colored lights. Fun and quirky just like my husband and myself. One of the reasons I wanted to make sure it was up soon is because I had nowhere to go with the gifts I bought. Can you believe that I have about 90% of my shopping done already? At the beginning of December I'm never this far ahead of the game. Go me!!!

These over the knee boots are probably my new favorite item in my wardrobe. I got them way on sale at Lord and Taylor last month. But the good news is that they are still on sale (I think even more than when I bought them)! Be sure to check it out. They are very comfortable, go with just about everything, and are so on trend for the season.

I was trying to go for a "lampshading" look here. You know, tall boots, an oversized top, and a short skirt or shorts. Not sure what I really think of the trend or if I even achieved the look or not...but thought it was worth a shot!

Oh yeah...lastly, I got bangs (again!). I was bored with my hair about two weeks ago and told my stylist to switch up my look with some bangs. I'm always getting bored and making very subtle changes. For some reason they look way more blunt in these photos than they actually are. Weird. What do you all think?

Cats & Dogs

There is nothing like autumn in New York City. The smell of leaves (my favorite!), the crisp fall air, wearing tights/jackets/layers/hats...it's the best! Every weekend like this my husband and I always take our dog on long walks. This morning we went for a walk through Greenpoint. It was the perfect start to our day.

Rocko was so distracted at the park today. So many dogs were out enjoying the weather...and the dirt must have tasted extra delicious because he wouldn't stop eating it. Rocko, what am I going to do with you???

But we couldn't stay mad at the little guy for long. All he wanted was cuddles and belly rubs on the park bench...and then five minutes later it was back to eating dirt sandwiches. Ugh!

So I just got this cat hat and I can't get enough of it. No, it's not part of a Halloween costume..just me and my quirky self. I love it!!!

How do you celebrate fall???

Yes Way, Monet!

One of the best moments of our trip to France was a little side trip we took to Giverny. Ever since I was studying art history in college I would dream about going to visit Claude Monet's house and gardens in Giverny, France. I wasn't able to go there the first time I visited France eleven years ago...but I made it a must on this trip!

Before we arrived I knew the gardens would be beautiful...but when you actually see them in person it is just overwhelming! The gardens were massive and were kept immaculate! So many flowers I have never seen in my life.

Monet's famous water lily pond was so beautiful, peaceful, and perfect.

It was so wonderful to go through Monet's house. Did you see my photos from inside his home on my Instagram? If not, stop on by.

So I know nothing about flowers. I do not have a green thumb and kill just about any plant that gets near me. But what I do know is that I have never seen these flowers before. They reminded me of a starburst...and I just loved them. My absolute favorite flowers of the day!

We also had time to walk through the adorable town, have a yummy lunch, and see the cemetery were Claude Monet is buried.

I'm so very happy that we took this short 40 minute train ride outside of Paris. This was such an enjoyable day. If you find yourself in Paris think about making a visit to Giverny. You will absolutely love it.

Here's to making my art history dreams come true!

American in Paris

Well we're back! After an amazing trip to Paris I can easily say it is my dream city. I think I'd move there in a second...if I only spoke French. *sigh*

Everything was so clean and pretty. The shops were even more adorable than I remembered them being. My husband and I kept saying how is it that we live in NYC and the specialty food stores we have are nothing at all like what they have there. So jealous...

From the amazing architecture, to the delicious food, to the breathtaking gardens and flowers, to the phenomenal farmers market (the one in Bastille was our favorite!)...Paris is a city I hope you all get to go to at some point in your lives.

We were so amazed at how in bloom everything was, especially for the middle to end of September.

Okay...I could go on and on with my photos...but I'll save some for another post. :-)
